Oracle Troubleshooting Steps

Sometimes Internet Explorer will forget the settings necessary for the browser to open up oracle.  When this happens you may see the following message: 

If this occurs please check each of the following areas of concern to resolve the issue. 

Common issues  

Compatibility View Settings  

Setting the Trusted Zones 

Disabling the pop up blocker 

Ensuring that BOTH versions of Java are installed on the local machine 

Did I forget to change my Oracle Password

Compatibility View Settings  

In order for Oracle to work correctly on a host machine you must add Edelbrock.com to the compatibility view settings sites.  The compatibility view settings can be accessed via the gear icon near the top right shown below 

 

When configured correctly the window should look as it does below 

 

- Add to Trusted Zones

- Navigate to internet options like below 

 

This will open the following window pane

 

Navigate to the security tab, click the green check mark for trusted sites, move the security slider to the lowest position.  Note: in some cases it may be necessary to add the site edelbrock.com to the list of trusted sites. 

 

- Disable pop up blocker  

- In some cases it will be necessary to disable the pop up blocker before the system will run oracle applications.  To disable the pop up blocker navigate to Privacy tab of the Internet Options pane and uncheck the Setting labeled Turn on Pop-up Blocker.  - When complete click the Apply button at the bottom.

 

Check Java Versions:

- In order to run oracle applications there are two different versions of the Java Runtime Environment that must be on the host machine, Java 7 Update 51 and Java 8 Update 73 

- Navigate to the control panel > Programs > Programs and features  

You should see two separate java versions.  Confirm that the versions installed match the versions specified above.

 

If the versions are different or missing please open an IT ticket to have someone assist you with installing Oracle's Java dependencies on your machine.

 

Passwords :

Some Oracle accounts are set up with passwords which expire every 90 days.  If this is the case it may be as simple as changing a password before you can regain access to your
